Today, with my teammate Julieta, we discussed several aspects about our project.  Firstly, we decided on that genre we will work on for the project. The genre we chose is Drama. Teen Drama to be more specific.  We also talked about different possibilities on when and where to meet to work on the project outside of school. We agreed that we will most likely meet during the weekends.  We then had a guest speaker come into class and talk about their college experiences so we could not work on the project any further today.  I will keep updating the blog as we keep discussing different matters and making new decisions. 

I decided to start working on this project with a teammate primarily because I believe that it will benefit me in a lot of different ways. Firstly, it will improve my motivation given that there is now another person working with me and pitching in their effort and ideas. Secondly, the extra help with the project itself will make it advance more quickly and therefore make me want to work on it more.  I think this was the right choice, and with the upcoming weeks the progress we will make with my teammate, Julieta Gedikian, will show postive results.  

After thinking about it for a while, I decided to snap out of my "loner" moment and start working on this project with a teammate.  Yay! Hopefully, now that I have somebody else working with me I will be more motivated to actually get my stuff done. Not only that, but having another working brain helping me out with coming up with new ideas will have a positive effect on the overall result of our project.  I am excited to see how this turn of events will turn out in the upcoming weeks and how it will reflect on the project itself. 

My first idea for this project is to create a drama genre film opening. It would start off with a male teenager in his room, and at first sight this teenager would appear to be your stereotypical nerd; plays videogames on a Friday night, wears glasses, etc. At the beginning of the film opening the character would be playing online video games with his friends, and one of the shots would point at an electronic device indicating that it is a Friday night, letting the viewer know the specific time to portray that instead of hanging out with friends outside this particular kid is staying inside playing video games.  After a few seconds of this kid playing his games, his mom comes to say goodnight to him, and the kid very 'innocently' responds and says goodnight back to her.  However, when the mom finally leaves the room, the main character proceeds to turn off his video games, take off his glasses, and starts getting dressed as if he were to go out to a party. To start off, I'm not quite sure of what my approach will be for this project. I have a rough idea of what I would like to do for the film opening, however I have no intention of posting +25 blogs documenting my entire thinking process. I believe every person has a different work ethic and a different pace, so forcing everyone to post the same information with the same format seems quite silly to me.  I will continue to ponder this during the upcoming weeks, and perhaps I will come to my senses on what to do for this project. How is it Science Fiction? Since I grew up reading and watching science fiction stories, I thought it was only appropriate to research the Science Fiction genre.  Science fiction is typically about futuristic and imaginative concepts such as advanced technology, time travel, space exploration, extraterrestrial life, parallel universes, etc. It often illustrates the consequences of a new technological, scientific, or social invention.  Content: Suspense is a main factor used in science fiction.
