Portfolio Project Planning

My first idea for this project is to create a drama genre film opening. It would start off with a male teenager in his room, and at first sight this teenager would appear to be your stereotypical nerd; plays videogames on a Friday night, wears glasses, etc. At the beginning of the film opening the character would be playing online video games with his friends, and one of the shots would point at an electronic device indicating that it is a Friday night, letting the viewer know the specific time to portray that instead of hanging out with friends outside this particular kid is staying inside playing video games. 

After a few seconds of this kid playing his games, his mom comes to say goodnight to him, and the kid very 'innocently' responds and says goodnight back to her. 

However, when the mom finally leaves the room, the main character proceeds to turn off his video games, take off his glasses, and starts getting dressed as if he were to go out to a party. He puts cologne on, ties his hair up, revealing piercing holes in his ears and proceeds to put earrings on, as well as rings and other jewelry you would not expect your average nerd to wear. While he is doing this, there would be a close-up shot of his phone and a notification popping up saying something along the lines of "dude hurry up," indicating that he has friends waiting for him somewhere. 

Once he is done getting ready, he proceeds to open his bedroom window where he intends to jump off of. He then climbs out, and does in fact jump off onto the ground. He lands quite loudly, so he looks back toward his house to check if he was heard. Once he verifies that the coast is clear, he proceeds to go around his house and onto the street, where he runs a few dozen meters. 

Eventually a car is seen, and the male gets inside. A bunch of other teenagers appear in the shot, all looking like they are indeed about to go partying. They have a brief conversation about the main character being late, and shortly after the car leaves. However, when the car is leaving its parked spot and starts going forward, the camera would not follow it. Instead, it would stay in place and reveal the title of the film behind the the car as it advances and eventually gets out of frame. This is a very popular method of revealing a movie title, but I think it would fit the film opening quite well. 

I still have not come up with a title for this film, but I want to take my time since I want it to be very fitting for the story and main character. 

In summary, this drama film would be about a teenager who appears to be all innocent and nerdy in front of his parents but sneaks out with friends to party during the night, and during the film the viewer would wonder how this character manages to balance these two, very different parts of his life without his parents finding out, and whether he manages to succeed in doing so for the entirety of the film or not, which would keep the viewer engaged and intrigued until the end.
